Overview

Munnar, situated 135 km east of Kochi, is the highest (1524m) hill station of Kerala. The highest peak in south India, Anaimudi (2695 m) is a short distance from it. Munnar has a cool, bracing climate and exudes an old-world charm. The atmosphere is fragrant with extensive tea and cardamom plantations. The enchanting high range of lakes and streams, the low-flying clouds and the mist-filled valleys cast a spell which lingers long in the memory.

The lovely landscape, the teagardens and the pleasant weather make Munnar a picture perfect destination. Munnar is situated at an altitude of 1520 meters, in the eastern part of Kerala. The Western Ghats of Kerala stand close to Munnar. The highest peak of Anaimudi is quiet close to the Munnart. The hills neighboring Munnar present a spectacular sight only once in every twelve years. The Neelakurunji plant grows on the hills and bloom to cover the entire mountain range.

Rajamala is known as the natural habitat of endangered Nilgiri Tahr. Chitthirapuram is a small hill station that was once the favourite of the British while Echo Point is known for the natural echo effect it produces.
