Along the riverbank are fourteen important ghats, or bathing places. Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu stayed in Pandharpur for 11days. He took darshan of Lord Vitthala and bathed in the Chandrabhaga River. Upon meeting Sri Ranga Puri, one of Madhavendra Puri's disciples, He discovered that his brother, Vishwaripa, had passed away and attained samadhi in Pandharpur.
