Annaporneshwari Temple One of the Sapta Kshetra Temple of Karnataka located is located in Horanadu in Karnataka . Annapoorneshwari temple is picturesquely situated amidst thick forests and valleys. Sage Agastya is said to have installed the deity. The sanctum was renovated in recent years by a learned astrologer, Venkitasubba Jois. The deity has been designed in a unique manner: the single image depicts the Devi standing on a peeta with Devi Gayatri, Sri Chakra, Shanku and Chakra in Her four hands.
The sanctum is surrounded by Adi Sesha and the Padma Peeta is formed by Ashtagaja, Koorma and others. The name "Annapoorneshwari" means "Feeding one and all". The uniqueness of this temple is everybody who visit this temple are provided with food (Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner) and place to sleep in the temple premises. Shri Bheemeshwara Joshi is the present Dharmakartaru of Annapoorneshwari temple.
Legend of Annapoorneswari Temple :- Everyone who visits Horanadu Annapoorna temple is provided with a three course vegetarian meal (excluding a dessert made from Dhal or Lentils) irrespective of their religion, language, caste, or creed. Male visitors to the temple have to remove their shirts and preferably cover their shoulders with a towel or a shawl as a symbol of respect and humility in front of god.
The main deity of Annapoorna is made of gold and she looks so beautiful. A sense of fulfilment is felt when a person visits this temple and it is said that a person who seeks the goddess blessings would never have any scarce for food in life. It seems lord Shiva once had a curse and the same got reversed when he visited Goddess annapoorna and seeked her blessings
