There are many forts that can be seen in and around the place and visiting them can be an enlightening experience. The Akola Fort is one of the major attractions of the place and the fort is a site that one must visit when visiting the city. There are many inscriptions that can be seen in the fort and there is an old Shiva Temple that is also located in the fort. The Rajeshwari Mandir attracts many visitors. There are many contradictory inscriptions that can be seen the fort and each claim that different people built the fort. The other major attractions include the Narnala Fort, Akol Fort and the Balapur Fort. Narnala is a hill fort that is located nearby and it is worth visiting the place while travelling to the city of Akola.

Shripur :
There are some important historical forts at Akola, Balapur and Karanja towns. A large number of visitors are visiting Shripur to see the temple of Padmaprabha one of the 24 Tirthankars of the Jain.

Narnala Wildlife Sanctuary :
This century is located away 40 km away from the Akola city. The total covered area of the sanctuary is 12.35 sq km. The city is hilly and rugged consisting of tropical dry Deciduous forests. Teak, salai, Kusum and many are the principal plant species in the area. The area is also rich in wild jasmine shrubs. The sanctuary is a rich habitat of leopard, sambar and birds.
